EQUAL launches: #TimeToAct - a brand new series for the criminal justice sector

Following on from EQUAL’s highly successful #TimeToTalk series, we are delighted to announce news of a brand-new event series for the Criminal Justice Sector entitled, #TimeToAct. This is a sector-facing, three-part series held in partnership with Criminal Justice Alliance, Clinks and Barrow Cadbury Trust, and has been inspired by David Lammy MP’s call to interrogate how far his Review’s 35 recommendations have been implemented to date.

To that end, EQUAL will be launching #TimeToAct with: ‘Reimagining the Review: Four years on from the Lammy Review’ on Wednesday 19th May at 11.30 – 1pm.

The session will begin with insights from guest speakers: Sofia Buncy (Muslim Women in Prison Project & Khidmat Centre), Dr Laura Janes (The Howard League for Penal Reform) and Dez Brown (Spark2Life), followed by an interactive forum on the legacy of David Lammy’s 2017 Review into racial disparity in the UK criminal justice system. Through breakout rooms, attendees will get the chance to share their thoughts on progress or areas of concern since 2017, as well as visions for the future of race equality in the criminal justice sector.
