About Me

I was born and raised in North west London on the Church Road estate. Growing up in London is hard but being a young black man growing up in an area which is known for gang culture and violence is even harder. I used the struggles I faced in life from an early age to motivate me to want to do better for myself and my family.

Why I wanted to become an MoU Ambassador:

I want to show the youth of today that having more than one dream is okay. To be rejected is okay and that rejection does not define you and we need to come together and dust yourself up and go again. Take yourself out of your comfortable place and put yourself in situations that you have not put yourself in before. As young black males coming from a less fortunate background many of us will look towards sports, rapping, acting or drug dealing and criminal activity to better their situation. I want to be able to educate young males of today that we are talented, academically as well as through sports etc. we should not limit ourselves.

What I currently do as an Ambassador

As one of the Brent Ambassadors, I think my role is crucial in helping partners within the Brent Collective Impact Partnership and anyone else working with young black men from the area – to understand what it means to grow up here, around Church Road and to share my lived experiences of the challenges and barriers we face. I see my role as also inspiring young black men like me, to progress in live and make positive decisions.
